Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 vs Mi Pad 2 Specs Review: Better Battery Life, Camera, and Storage

Chinese technology company Xiaomi unveiled its latest tablet, the Mi Pad 3, without much fanfare.

Listed on its website, the Mi Pad 3 was officially released on April 5 and has an introductory price of 1,499 Yuan (around $217). However, the tablet is only available in China as of the moment.

Being the newest model in Xiaomi's Mi Pad series, the Mi Pad 3 has 4GB of RAM and 64GB worth of internal storage (standard). In comparison, its predecessor - the Mi Pad 2 - only had 2GB of RAM and a 16GB standard internal storage.

The Mi Pad 3 also had a boost in battery life, now powered by a 6,600 mAh battery which could last for up to 867 hours on standby and 12 hours in playback. This is higher compared to the Mi Pad 2's 6,160 mAh battery capacity.

Aside from that, the Mi Pad 3 also enjoys an upgraded camera - with a 13-megapixel main camera compared to the Mi Pad 2's eight megapixels. The front camera of the Mi Pad 3 is at five megapixels and has an aperture of f/2.0

Unfortunately, the Mi Pad 3 is already locked to the Android operating system, unlike the Mi Pad 2 which can run in both Android and Windows.

However, the Mi Pad 3 will run with the latest Android Marshmallow and will have Xiaomi's own skin, MIUI 8, to run with.

As far as display size and features are concerned, the Mi Pad 3 is similar to its predecessor with a 7.9-inch display and a pixel resolution of 2048 x 1536.

In the meantime, the new tablet will only be available in one color, Champagne Gold, unlike the Mi Pad 2 which was available in both Champagne Gold and Dark Grey.

In addition, the Mi Pad 3 runs with a 2.1GHz MediaTek processor with a MT8176 hexa-core 64-bit.

There is no word as to when the Mi Pad 3 will be available in the United States or in the United Kingdom, and its price might differ once it is released worldwide.
