'Yooka-Laylee' Introduces Soundtrack Ahead of Launch Date

Most game developers agree that one integral part that makes a title memorable and captivating is the music. And so to add more hype prior the game's release, Playtonic Games' "Yooka-Laylee" is making copies of the soundtrack available days before the title officially launches on all platforms.

In a tweet, the developer has announced that they will be introducing the soundtrack on April 7 on CD, Vinyl record and digital download via Laced Records and digital stores. It has not been announced as to how many tracks there will be, but judging from gameplay trailers, they sound nostalgic and fun-inducing.

Netizens seem to agree with this observation. Some are mentioning that the demo lived up to the hype coupled with enchanting background music, and this has got them interested in getting it. For collectors, the vinyl piece is certainly a must-have and will be a great piece of art to obtain.

This isn't the only piece of media that "Yooka-Laylee" is sending out to further increase awareness and curiosity over the game. It can be recalled that since March 6, they have started distributing "Insert Coin" T-shirts to eligible backers. It certainly brings a sense of ownership and collective triumph, and so it does give bragging rights to those who believed in the game.

The eligible backers who are able to obtain special edition T-shirts are those who pledged £55 (approximately $67) or more on the game's Kickstarter page. Not only do they receive the shirt, but they also get to have a "Yooka-Laylee" Digital Deluxe Edition, an enhanced Toybox which is some sort of a spoiler-free preview, and even more freebies.

The game's proposition was indeed bold as it aimed to revitalize a classic genre and insert some modern stylings, making it both current and classic. From the looks of it, the risk has certainly paid off.

"Yooka-Laylee" arrives on PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox One and PC platforms by April 11, 2017, while a Nintendo Switch release can be expected within the year.
