A Christian mother of four from Guthrie, Okla., had her wallet stolen by a man while shopping earlier this month and instead of screaming for help and calling the police you would never believe what she did next and why.

Jessica Eaves, who is also the leader of the Christian outreach team at First Christian Church in Guthrie, reportedly walked up to the man she suspected of taking her wallet and demanded it back with an ultimatum that made it impossible to refuse.

"I saw this gentleman down the aisle from me," Eaves told Yahoo! shine. "He walked behind me, and when I got a couple of aisles over, I realized my wallet was gone."

"I spotted him in a crowded aisle and approached him," she continued. "I said to him, 'I think you have something of mine. I'm gonna give you a choice. You can either give me my wallet and I'll forgive you right now, and I'll even take you to the front and pay for your groceries.'"

If he failed to agree, said Eaves, she told the man she would call the police. His response moved her.

"He reached into his hoodie pocket and gave me my wallet," she recalled. She said the man was very grateful for her help and forgiveness.

"He started crying when we walked up to the front," she noted. "He said he was sorry about 20 times by the time we went from the pickle aisle to the front. He told me he was desperate."

Eaves noted that after she spent $27 purchasing groceries for the man, which included milk, bread, bologna, crackers, soup and cheese, the man said, "I'll never forget tonight. I'm broke, I have kids, I'm embarrassed and I'm sorry."

The gutsy mom who also reportedly shared the story on her Facebook page said she has been criticized for not reporting the man to the police but she feels people need to sometimes forget about their circumstances for a bit and recognize when other people are in need and respond.

In an interview with The Christian Post on Thursday, Eaves explained that she could identify with the man as a parent, and then she shared her own emotional story.

"My husband recently took a position for a company making half of what he was making before. I am a full-time college student. We got married young. We have four children under the age of 8. For the last two weeks the check engine light has been on in my car. And this morning my husband went out to get in his pick-up and it didn't start," she explained.

"Regardless of how much money we have we should always be willing to help someone in need because there is always someone who is in greater need than we are," she added.

Eaves said she knew God wanted her to help the man who took her wallet because the day she decided to pay for his groceries something else happened.

"I never carry cash," she explained "When I got to the check-out counter that day his (robber's) total was just a little over $27 and I had $28 in cash in my wallet. And so I knew in that moment it wasn't me. It was Christ that played in that moment."
