Zac Efron News: Hollywood Heartthrob Claims His Life is More Structured Now

Zac Efron claims that his life is now more structured and has a balance of opposites.

In his recent interview with Elle magazine, the actor revealed that he couldn't live his life the way he wanted to in the past because of fear. However, it eventually dawned on him that overcoming fear leads to greatness.

According to the actor, there was a phase in his life wherein he would start his day by Googling himself. However, it finally hit him that living his life based on the opinion of others is not the way how life should be lived as he couldn't be himself, as per People.

Efron revealed that it was only recently when he crossed over the line of fear after he went shark diving with some researchers in Hawaii. There, he came face to face with a shark.

"I could either turn and try to beat the shark to the boat, or I could look it in the eyes and let it know I'm present and I'm not afraid. It went right past me, and I put my hand out and I actually rode the shark for 10 or 15 seconds," he said.

It can be recalled that Efron submitted himself to rehab back in 2013. Apparently, along with the decision came the positive changes in his career. From being a mere teeny bopper in the past decade, the actor is now identified with roles that almost mandate him to be shirtless in, at least, one scene.

Efron shared that, when it came to a point that he wanted to do more of adult roles, many people wanted him to stay the same. Then, finally, he did the comedy "Neighbors," which was shown in 2014. He thought that the movie would be a chaos, so he stayed at a friend's house when it was shown.

When he was riding a bike down the Venice Boulevard, Efron was stopped by a man who had watched the movie the previous night and commended him for his performance.

"'That was so funny! I just wanted to shake your hand.' And that was it. He shook my hand. He didn't ask for a picture. He just wanted to tell me that he appreciated the movie. That was a big moment," recalled Efron as he cited the incident as instrumental for him to embrace the career change that he wanted and to believe that even men were ready for his acting chops.

Incidentally, Efron stars in the current comedy "Neighbors 2" and has another one showing on July 8, "Dave and Mike Need Wedding Dates," which also features Adam Devine, Anna Kendrick, and Aubrey Plaza.

He is also part of the movie version of the '90s hit series "Baywatch," which is slated to hit the theaters on May 19, 2017.
