Zenmuse X7 Specs News: DJI Caters to 'High-End Filmmaking' With 6K, 24MP Camera

Technology company DJI has recently introduced one of their new cameras, the Zenmuse X7, which is equipped with some hefty features and specifications that will come in handy for filmmakers.

The key features of the Zenmuse X7 include its ability to capture videos in 6K resolution and images in 24 megapixels -- a combination of specs that DJI says will cater to "high-end filmmaking."

Right off the bat, photography and filmmaking enthusiasts will notice that DJI is trying to appeal to a more specific group of buyers with the Zenmuse X7. The company boasts that their new product belongs to the Super 35 category -- a well-used motion film format in the industry.

What sets the Zenmuse X7 apart from most Super 35 cameras in the market is certainly its compact built and its integrated gimbal, which means creators can expect high-level image stabilization on top of the promised high-quality images in terms of resolution and pixel count.

Apart from the above-mentioned features, DJI also boasts that the Zenmuse X7 pioneers the DL-Mount, which they describe as "the world's first integrated aerial lens mount that allows switching between four available prime lenses quickly."

The new camera also supports DJI's own Cinema Color System which aims to avoid losing the accuracy of image colors from the time a subject was captured and up to the post-processing phase.

"These latest innovations allow filmmakers to reach new heights and capture scenes as they imagine them with the DJI Zenmuse X7," DJI added.

Zenmuse X7 supports 16mm, 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm camera lenses -- all with f/2.8 aperture. Meanwhile, it is also important to note that filming in 6K is only supported in using the CinemaDNG video format. The camera, on the other hand, can capture 4K videos for other formats such as ProRes, H.264, H.265, among others.

Now, these specs and features really sound interesting. However (and as many might have expected), they come at a high price. The base Zenmuse X7 body alone costs $2,699. Purchases can be made through the official product page.
