Following the worldwide success of the hit Korean TV drama series "Descendants of the Sun" (starring Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki as the lead stars), producers confirmed in an interview that they are planning to have a Season 2. This will serve as a "thank you" gift to the fans who made all the fame the show garnered possible. This announcement once again sent the social media into a frenzy.
A love in the unlikeliest of places
"Descendants of the Sun" is a military-inspired romantic drama about a doctor (played by Song Hye Kyo) and a military captain (portrayed by Song Joong Ki) who fell in love with each other in the middle of a fictional, war-torn country, Urk. The drama series did not just invade its home country, but also stole the hearts of millions of viewers abroad that lead to their worldwide recognition.

"DOTS" Bagged Several Awards
In the recently concluded Asia Pacific Actors Network Award 2016, the drama series took home several awards including the Best Drama of the Year, Grand Excellence, and Best APAN Stars. Actor Song Joong Ki was present at the awarding, while his counterpart, actress Song Hye Kyo, was in Italy for a vacation.
Song Hye Kyo's recent instagram posts about the sceneries she just visited sparked the rumor that the season two of DOTS will be filmed in Italy. Reports also came that the script of the second season is in its final stages, just putting finishing touches and polish to the delight of the fans.
"Song-Song" No More
But a sad news also came as the rumor that the "Song-Song" couple, the endearing moniker their fans have given them, will not be in the second reprise of "DOTS". This is yet to be confirmed by the producers and Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), the network where the two stars belonged.
In an interview, Song Joong Ki voiced his interest of the second installment. "I will do it again no matter how successful or not it may be since I received a great gift from it. I have to pay back what I received," he said.
Currently the two stars are in different projects, no official reports yet if they are still willing to participate again or the doors are finally closed. Season two will also focus on the relationship of Lieutenant Yoon Myung-Joo and Sergeant Seo Dae-young played by Kim Ji Won and Jin Goo
