Huawei Mate 8 Release Date, Specs News: High-End Phablet To Debut Next Month, What's the Price?

The Huawei Mate 8 is among the top smartphones that are expected to launch next month at the IFA event in Berlin. Since this would be the successor of the highly popular Mate 7, the next-gen handset is expected to improve in all aspects.

According to previous rumors and reports about the upcoming Huawei phablet, the Huawei Mate 8 will allegedly boast a 6-inch display with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, Huawei's very own Kirin 950 chipset, an octa-core CPU, and an option of either a 3GB RAM/32GB built-in storage combination, or a 4GB RAM/64GB internal memory combo.

Other alleged specs of the device include a 20.7MP Sony-made primary camera at the back, while there is an 8MP selfie camera that selfie enthusiasts would surely love. The device will reportedly be able to support two SIM cards, although the second SIM card may be converted into a microSD card slot.

Rounding up the alleged specs and features list include the same 4,100mAh battery of the Mate 7, a fingerprint scanner, a stylish design, an easy to grip build, and Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.

As for the expected pricing for the Huawei Mate 8, a report from Android Pit speculated that the unannounced Android phablet would cost $669 during its launch. While the reported retail price may seem steep, it could also show that the Chinese manufacturer is confident in its own devices. It also shows that Huawei is ready for a head-on-collision with other high-end flagships in the market today such as the Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, the HTC One M9, and the LG G4.

According to a report by GSM Arena, Huawei is currently the third biggest smartphone company, behind Apple and Samsung. In spite this huge feat, the phone maker is still expanding its lineup of devices to cover as much portion of the market as possible.
