iPad Mini 4 Specs Rumors: Leaked Renders Reveal iPad Air-Like Design, Thinner Frame

Ever since the iPad Air was born, fewer and fewer people have been giving their attention to the iPad mini lineup. Another reason for this is Apple's decision to keep the upgrades of the iPad Mini 3 from the Mini 2 very minimal.

The only "upgrades" made to the iPad mini 3 last year are the inclusion of the fingerprint scanner and the availability of a golden option. There were no more hardware changes aside from that. In comparison, the iPad Air acquired a much thinner frame, faster chipset, better camera, and more RAM.

However, according to a report by Apple Insider, it seems the upcoming iPad mini 4 will be getting something new - including a new look. In the report, Apple's mini tablet will allegedly become 1.4 millimetres thinner than its predecessor, trimming its waistline from 7.4mm to 6.1mm.

In addition, the device will allegedly sport most, if not all of the innards of the iPad Air 2, which was launched last year. If proven true, this could once again breathe new life to the iPad Mini lineup. Some of these specifications include an A8 chipset, an 8-megapixel camera, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

Earlier this year, some reports and experts speculated that Apple would reintroduce a brand-new iPad mini lineup during the first quarter of 2015. This came after reports confirmed the disappointing sales of the iPads, especially the minis.

However, based on the leak by @onleaks, that new iPad mini 4 would instead be unveiled at the usual Apple schedule before the year ends.

Another rumored Apple tablet is the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which has been in the rumor mill for almost two years already.

Based on rumors, the huge slate will be a laptop-tablet hybrid that would compete with the Microsoft Surface Pro 4. It will reportedly be unveiled in October.
