MLB 2016 Updates and News: Preparations Underway for Upcoming Season; Where to Watch, Rumors, Trades, Roster Standings

As the deadline approaches for trades and transactions, Major League Baseball has teams cementing their rosters in preparation for the season. The rumors are also teeming with big names getting traded and transactions being finalized.

One of the biggest trade deals of this lay low was forged on Sunday morning, when the Indians boasted that they snatched Yankees reliever Andrew Miller, after the New York squad received four players, Clint Frazier and pitcher Justus Sheffield who are both prospects to live in the MLB's superstar lane.

Another deal made headlines earlier last week after the Cubs pawned their rising stars to acquire fastball pitcher Aroldis Chapman from the Yankees. Some of the more recognizable names are also rumored to be on the trade block include Carlos Beltran, Jonathan Lucroy and Jay Bruce.

Also on Sunday, the Yankees and Pirates are moving towards a trade that would send Nathan Eovaldi to Pittsburgh for a lucrative addition with Steven Brault in the frontline. While also in the banner is the report that San Francisco is in pursuit of Rays left-hander Matt Moore.

Another team is in pursuit of a better lineup since the Padres are eyeing Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy to be traded while their best thrower Derek Norris is in the line. The Red Sox are rumored to land Carlos Beltran, from the other end of the recent developments.

Just minutes before the earlier news, two big deals were closed to include Wade Miley is reportedly going to the Orioles, pending a physical to acquire clearance and secondly, left-hander Ariel Miranda goes to Seattle.

Several events changed the MLB landscape with the following earlier deals;

  1. The Dodgers, Blue Jays, Rangers, Astros and Pirates have discussed starter Rich Hill with the Athletics.
  2. Los Angeles is also pursuing Rays pitcher Chris Archer, among multiple other targets. The Rays believe the Dodgers are among four teams who have the talent that would be needed to land Archer.
  3. The Mets think they are out of the running for Jay Bruce and Jonathan Lucroy.
  4. Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy exercised his no-trade clause to veto a trade to the Indians.
  5. Yankees pitcher Andrew Miller was traded to the Indians for prospects.
  6. The Yankees are fielding interest for catcher Brian McCann.
  7. Arizona traded reliever Tyler Clippard to the Yankees in exchange for minor-leaguer Vicente Campos.
  8. The White Sox have traded pitcher Zach Duke to the Cardinals in exchange for outfielder Charlie Tilson.
