Moto Droid Turbo 2015 Release Date: Next-Gen Droid for Verizon to Debut Earlier Than Expected

Last year, more than a few thousand people were surprised to see Motorola launch another Verizon-exclusive at that time of the year. Everyone was already praising the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the new iPhones 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and there are other various manufacturers that have already made a name for themselves entering the final quarter of the year.

However, Motorola and Verizon had other things in mind, and the two manufacturers launched what many considered the top Android device of 2014. The original Droid Turbo was packed a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, a 21MP primary camera, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, 3GB of RAM, an option for a 32GB or 64GB built-in memory, and a massive 3,900mAh battery.

While the smartphone was only available in Verizon Wireless in the U.S., it did not stop Android fans and critics from praising the device's specs and design.

As the IFA event in September draws near, rumors are already circulating that the next-generation Motorola Droid Turbo (2015) will be announced by the company sooner rather than later.

According to a report by Master Herald, the device is said to boast Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. This tells us that the device could be announced earlier than the launch of Android M, which is during the final quarter of the year.

In addition to its version of Android, leaked documents from the FCC in the U.S. also point to turbo-charing, 802.11 ac MiMo WiFi, LTE Advanced, and even LTE bands outside of Verizon Wireless' coverage.

Other crucial specs that will allegedly be aboard the upcoming Motorola Droid Turbo (2015) include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB or 64GB of built in memory. Last year's model did not have a microSD card slot, so let's all hope the new version will offer the option for expandable storage.

Motorola should launch the device some time next month, according to reports.
