'NCIS: Los Angeles' Season 8 Spoilers: Kensi's Life Still Hangs in the Balance; Undermanned Team Deals with New Abduction Case

Without 3 key members, the team is tasked to solve an abduction case.

Kensi remains in critical condition due to the injuries she suffered while in the team's mission in Syria. Hetty also will remain out of commission which will likely make fans of NCIS: Los Angeles Season 8 wonder how the team will do without them.

Kensi fights for life

Kensi (Daniela Ruah) is still fighting for her life at the hospital's Intensive Care Unit as a result of the helicopter crash in the previous episode of "NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 8. The helicopter was used by the NCIS team as their getaway vehicle which the Syrian mercenaries fired a rocket at, causing it to crash land.

Unfortunately, Kensi was severely injured after being trapped under the bulk of the helicopter debris. There was no way out for the team to escape until Granger (Miguel Ferrer) bypassed Corbin Duggan (Jackson Hurst), the Defense undersecretary. Granger ordered a drone strike for the team to be able to get out in the "NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 8 episode.

Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen), Callen (Chris O'Donnell) as well as Sam (LL Cool J) were able to get out of the crash alive and well but Kensi barely did. She had to be rushed back to the U.S. for treatment as she was barely hanging on by the thread at last week's episode of "NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 8.

Real life pregnancy

Before the season premiere, the showrunners teased of a storyline that would go around Ruah's real life pregnancy. It will be revealed in the new episode of "NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 8 that her character will be confined in the ICU following her near miss at death. It shouldn't worry fans of Kensi and Deeks though as they are expected to get engaged when she gets well enough according to spoilers.

Hetty and Granger's fate in the balance

Hetty's (Linda Hunt) fate also remains in the balance. Duggan had her cuffed and brought to D.C. after she offered her resignation following the events of the last episode of "NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 8. But, the team will not just likely accept their leader taking the blame on the busted Syrian mission sitting down.

Aside from Hetty, Granger is also in danger of getting fired since he ordered the unauthorized drone attack on the rebels. The lack of key members in their teams may be a big morale letdown but the three remaining teammates will be tasked to investigate the abduction of an important person in the next episode of "NCIS: Los Angeles" Season 8.

New episode promo trailer

The promo trailer for the next episode of "NCIS: Los Angeles" shows the team barge into what appears to be the abductors' hideout. Meanwhile, Hetty is also seen being reminded of the oath she took to defend the country's constitution. She is also told that she should be ashamed for breaking said oath.

"NCIS: Los Angeles" newest episode titled "The Queen's Gambit" will air this Sunday, October 2 on CBS.
