No Man's Sky Release Date for PS4 and PC: Expected Exploration Hours, Companion App and Leaked Version

Just a day before the release of action-adventure-exploration game No Man's Sky on PlayStation 4 and a week before the PC release, several players claim that they have already started treading the game. Simply put, the game's objective is to stroll around the map and discover adventures or quests. For this early and leaked version, a buzz has been going around that some players have spent thousands for it.

What to expect?

With the top objective of exploring the game's universe as much as possible and with reports about players paying thousands for a leaked copy, the next problem could be losing fair play in No Man's Sky. Some players can make quick "runs" inside the game's server without any distraction. They can also amass cool gears for a strong character, without the legitimate players catching up to them. The leaked version players will also become unstoppable from squirrelling through the endgame.

Meanwhile, developer Hello Games said that the players who bought the game for August 9 console release and August 12 PC version shouldn't worry because they are going to nuke the server right before the game launch to afford fair play. This means that any progress made by the leaked version will be lost and everyone has to start fresh.

Offline playability for game

Another issue that might pose an unfair situation is the offline playability of No Man's Sky, wherein some of the early leaked version players can accumulate planets or creatures, and synchronize it to the servers when they go online. Remember that the capability of Hello Games is limited to game progress that are already synced in the server before the release. There is no clarification yet on how "to be sync" progress is checked for legitimacy.

Meanwhile, there is an unofficial companion app for No Man's Sky that was recently released. The app dubbed as NMS Ally is free to use and available for Android devices, but the developer said an iOS version will be out for release soon. The salient feature of NMS Ally is that it allows PlayStation 4 players to upload and share screenshots from No Man's Sky directly from their consoles (for bragging rights, of course).

NMS Ally also boasts a name generator for planets and creatures, making it easier to decide a name and avoid sleepless nights strategizing and planning. There is also a journal that keeps track of when and where discoveries were made in the game.

Leaked version raise concerns

Currently, it is difficult to assess the app regarding the expected play hours up to the end of the game. Some players are also worried that Hello Game's promise of hundreds of hours of exploration might just be a marketing stunt. Doubts escalated when a player with the leaked version disclosed on Reddit that he reached No Man's Sky's center within 20 to 30 hours of gameplay. The said player also claimed that there is a bug in the game that might cause serious problems in the future; although this might have been addressed already since the developer stated that they are done with the first major update.
