The 34-year old Federer struggled mightily against Cilic's powerful serves and ground strokes. This incredible performance by Cilic put him up 2 set to nil.

"I remember being in trouble the whole time," Federer said.

On the third set, Federer scored five straight points to the delight of the Centre Court crowd, and the 2012 champion never looked back.

"That switched the momentum," Cilic said.

The win marks the 10th time in the Swiss legend's career that he overcame a 0-2 deficit to win a match.

It also makes Federer (34 years 336 days) the oldest person since Ken Rosewall to reach the Wimbledon semifinal. Roswell was 39 years, 246 days old when he faced Jimmy Connors in 1974.

Raonic In, Querrey Out

Milos Raonic defeated Sam Querrey 6-4 7-5 5-7 6-4, to reach the semifinals of Wimbledon for the second time in his young career.

And for the second time, he will face Roger Federer.

But the 25-year old Canadian is unfazed, and he says that he will give it his all to win the semi-finals.

"I have to go out there and give it all I've got and I hope for a better result than last time," Raonic said after the match against Querrey.

The current world number 7 has been playing the best tennis of his young career, and 3-time Wimbledon winner John McEnroe can be largely attributed to it.

The 7-time grand slam champion has been working with the Canadian to improve his game and to coach him during the tournament.

Meanwhile, Querrey reached the quarterfinals of the event by beating top-ranked Novak Djokovic, 7-6 6-1 3-6 7-6. Despite the loss and apparent disappointment and frustration, Djokovic said Querrey "deserved to win."

Prior to the loss, Djokovic has ever gone out before the quarterfinals in a grand slam event since 2009.

Even with Djokovic out, the work for both Federer and Raonic is far from over. The winner of their match will face either Andy Murray or Tomas Berdych.
