Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 Rumors: Release Date Almost Here as Device Clears FCC in US

For the past few months, several leaks and reports are coming about Samsung's latest tablet that is reported to be a Verizon exclusive. As reports follow up on this device, it seems its announcement date is already just around the corner.

According to a report by Phone Arena, the unannounced Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 has appeared on the FCC in the US, which screens and certifies mobile devices and other electronic consumer products before they hit the market.

While there are no official announcements just yet, the fact that the Android tablet has passed the certification means that its launch may be sooner rather than later.

In the report, the device will be a Verizon exclusive and would support the US carrier's 4G LTE network. However, that's not the only thing that is interesting about the device.

Dubbed as SM-T567V in the FCC listing, the Galaxy Tab S2 boasts some pretty impressive specs such as a 9.7-inch Super AMOLED display with QHD or 2K (2048 x 1536) resolution, an Exynos 7 Octa 5433 SoC, 3GB of RAM, an 8MP primary shooter, and a 32GB built-in memory.

In addition, the device also packs a massive 5,870mAh battery out of the box, and probably Android 5.1 Lollipop. Based on the report by Phone Arena, it looks like the device will be pit against the current iPad Air from Apple.

As for pricing, there are no details yet, although there are speculations pointing to a premium price tag that is similar to that of the LTE-capable iPad Air 2. The Galaxy Tab S2 could boast similar or better specs than the current iPads, but with steep price tag, this could be a hard sell for both Samsung and Verizon.

Let's see in the coming weeks how the two partner manufacturers will handle the Galaxy Tab S2 release, availability and pricing.
