Seahawks Fan Shawna Cook Books Wedding on Super Bowl Sunday Planning 'Epic' Seahawks Themed Reception

An excited Seattle Seahawks is preparing to get married on Feb. 2, but noticed soon after booking the big day that it falls on the same day as the Super Bowl, which the Seahawks are playing in.

Shawna Cook is set to wed her fiancé Brian Mascarelli on Super Bowl Sunday, but was not thinking of the other big event that was scheduled for that same day.

"I said OK how about Feb. 2, 2-2, that's easy enough for my fiancé to remember," Cook told KIRO. "About a month later, it struck me, holy crud, it's on the Super Bowl."

While Cook has been a Seahawks fan after realizing her scheduling conflict she had hoped that Seattle would eventually make it to the big game just not this year.

"Of course there was a small part, a tiny, tiny demon inside me that said jeez, the one year the Seahawks have a chance is the one year I kind of hope they'll wait for next year," Cook said.

Ironically her soon-to-be husband is a huge San Francisco 49ers fan and when the two teams met in the NFC Championship game she was once again rooting for the Seahawks to prevail.

"It was the 49ers or the Seahawks. And if one side of the family was going to be distracted at the Super Bowl, I'd rather have it be my side of the family and see the Seahawks go," Cook added.

After the Seahawks beat the 49ers the couple began thinking of ways of how to incorporate Seattle's trip to the super Bowl into their wedding and reception.

"We're both huge NFL fans and even though last Sunday in particular was a point of contention between us, we both enjoy the atmosphere and we support each other and we've decided to just make it an epic celebration on all accounts," said Cook. "My family and friends all agree with us and we're all just going to make it an epic Super Bowl/wedding."

"We are commemorating the most awesome event in our life with the most awesome event in Seattle life," Cook added. "As soon as the ceremony is over, it is going to be Seahawks central for the next hour and a half."

Cook added that there are plans to have a TV on during the reception so that fans can watch Seattle during the Super Bowl.
