Sherin Mathews News Update: Texas Toddler Still Not Found More Than 10 Days After She Went Missing

It has been more than 10 days since 3-year-old Sherin Mathews disappeared, but there are still no signs of where she could be.

The child's father, Wesley Mathews, told the authorities that at 3 a.m. on Oct. 7, he sent his daughter, who was in pajamas, to stand alone beneath a tree, which was about 100 feet from their home in Richardson, Texas.

This was allegedly her punishment for refusing to drink her milk.

According to Matthews, he left the child there for about 15 minutes, and when he returned, she was already gone. What was strange, though, was that he allegedly decided to do laundry and wait for sunrise to report her disappearance.

The police had confiscated the washer, dryer, and a bunch of other items from missing Texas girl's home.

"If we think it's true that he washed clothes, then what can we find in this washer? Is there going to be DNA evidence? Is there potentially going to be blood evidence?" former Dallas County assistant district attorney Attorney Bree West, who is not involved in the case, said, as per Fox News.

She added, "If you're talking about dryers, is it possible there's going to be fibers or hairs? All of those things that may help police connect some of the dots."

Detectives and FBI agents, who searched the Mathews' residence, found out that the family's SUV left at around 4 a.m. on the day of the child's disappearance. According to a Washington Post report, the vehicle returned home in less than an hour.

Mathews was arrested and charged with child abandonment and endangerment but was released on bond. However, he reportedly already stopped cooperating with detectives investigating his missing daughter's case.

Sherin's mother, on the other hand, was said to be asleep during the whole incident and has not been charged. According to reports, she has also stopped cooperating, just like her husband. Their older child was taken in by Child Protective Services.

Meanwhile, CBS DFW has reported that the missing toddler's parents are also involved in another legal battle, which has nothing to do with her.

Court documents reportedly revealed that the Mathews couple is set to go to trial in February for a vehicular incident that they were involved in back in September of 2015. The plaintiff claims that it was the husband manning the wheel.

Sherin's father allegedly failed to slow down, which resulted in their car crashing into the back of the other party's vehicle.
