5 Killed in Crash Sunday in Montana: 3 Others Left Dead in Separate Crashes

Three fatal crashes occurred on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals. All three incidents involved a pick up truck; two took place in the same area just hours apart.

The most recent accident occurred around 6 pm Sunday at the intersection of U.S. 42 and Southfork Church Road in Verona, local reports confirmed. A woman driving a Geo Tracker on a wet road, drifted to the left of her lane, when she collided with a man driving a Chevrolet pickup truck.

The woman, indentified as 24-year-old Lana Rodgers, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was driving with her three-year-old son, Amos, who was taken by helicopter to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital. His current condition has not been made available. Robert Bischoff, 48, of Warsaw, was indentified as the male driver of the 1992 pickup truck. He was also flown by helicopter to the nearest hospital; his condition has not yet been released.

According to the Boone County Sheriff's Office, the road where the accident took place was shut down for nearly six hours after the incident occurred.

In a separate incident on Sunday morning near Browning, Montana, five people were killed and two injured after the driver of a Nissan Titan lost control over the vehicle. The vehicle rolled over with seven passengers inside, none were wearing seatbelts. Hours later, a second incident occurred in the same area.

A 28 year-old man was driving a pickup truck with a 21-year-old woman when he began to drift into the other side of the road. After the driver realized his error, he over corrected causing the car to flip. Both the driver and the passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Both Browning accidents are still under investigation.
