Adidas Talks 'New Chapter' With Kanye West

Kanye West has officially signed on to represent Adidas in 2014 and the sports apparel company is officially welcoming him to the team while showering the rap mogul with compliments.

West, the 36-year-old rap mogul, spoke tentatively about his deal with Adidas last week and now the brand is making it official publicly.

"For 2014, we welcome to the Adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West," Adidas representatives said in a statement. "Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in streetwear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow."

West spoke about the new venture that he chose to sign with Adidas while speaking to New York City radio station Hot 97 recently.

"The old me without a daughter may have taken the Nike deal because I just love Nike so much and blah, blah, blah," West explained to Hot 97's Angie Martinez recently. "But the new me takes the Adidas deal because I have royalties and I have to provide for my family."

West's announcement of a deal with Adidas comes after he called out Nike CEO Mark Parker in the Madison Square Garden stop of his "Yeezus" tour.

"Mark Parker tried to son me. Yes. Son me because I am the sun and I will shine bright," West said during his tour rant. "And when I don't have as much money as a billionaire and when I don't have the factories that, that dude has over there, what I do have is my voice. Ain't no corporation that can take me away from my voice and I'm going to scream at the top of my (expletive) mountain as loud as I want."
