'Agent Carter' Plot Spoilers News: Episode 3 Synopsis Revealed, Hayley Atwell Talks About Her Character

The series premiere of "Agent Carter" is only a few days away, and anticipation for the series is building up as a new teaser video has been released by ABC featuring actress Hayley Atwell talking about her character.

Atwell explains that the series takes place in 1946, after the events of 2011's "Captain America: The First Avenger."

In the video, Agent Carter is seen living a double life as she performs administrative work for the Strategic Scientific Reserve while going on secret missions courtesy of Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper). Stark and Carter work together after Stark is framed for selling weapons grade technology in the black market, and he asks Peggy to help him hunt down the missing weaponry and clear his name. Assisting her in the mission is Stark's butler Jarvis (James D'Arcy).

Of her character, Atwell says, "She has an intelligence about her and a skill set that's very impressive, and yet we get to see the emotional and psychological cost of her character, of someone who's having to live a double life." Aside from having to live a double life, Peggy will also have to deal with men who don't treat women as equals in the workplace.

After the two-hour premiere of "Agent Carter," the series will continue with episode 3 titled "Time and Tide" which has this synopsis:

"As Agent Carter closes in on Howard Stark's stolen technology, Peggy's secret mission could unravel when the SSR arrests Jarvis and a secret is revealed."

"Agent Carter" two-hour series premiere kicks off on Jan. 6 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
