Bobby Brown Reveals Past Mistakes With Whitney Houston in New Song
Bobby Brown, 43-year-old R&B singer and ex-husband of Whitney Houston, performed a song from his new album as a tribute to the late singer on the "Tonight Show With Jay Leno" Wednesday.
Brown performed the song called "Don't Let Me Die" for Leno and his audience, where he reflects on life with his former wife who died at 48-years-old on Feb 11. The performer whom Houston once referred to as "The King of R&B" performed the song from his upcoming album "Masterpiece" while dressed in black for the appearance.
"I didn't realize that every breath I took was from you," Brown sang "You were my air."
In the tribute song, Brown also spoke about some of the mistakes he may have made with Houston.
"I guess I [messed] up pretty bad/ I didn't know who you were/ I didn't know what we had," Brown sang. "Now I'm stuck living in the past/ Trying to get the pieces back/ But I guess now you're gone."
The appearance was only the second time that Brown spoke publicly about Houston since she passed away in February. In his first interview with the "Today" show in April, Brown insisted that people were unfairly placing blame on him for Houston's drug problems.
"I smoked weed, I drank the beer, but no, I wasn't the one that got Whitney on drugs at all," Brown revealed on the show in April. "It's just, it's just unexplainable, how one could [say that I] got her addicted to drugs. I'm not the reason she's gone."
Now, Brown is attempting to begin another part of his life with the release of his first album since 1997, "Masterpiece." Brown said the album, slated for a June 5 debut, will help him move forward in his life.
"It's what I've been through throughout my life, and just trying to heal myself through my music," he said in a Washington Post report.
