'Castle' Season 7 News: Last Three Episodes to Focus on Castle's Disappearance

After taking quite a long break from TV, "Castle" is returning with its latest episode – Episode 20 – on April 20. Their previous episode was aired on March 30.

The crime procedural drama starring Nathan Fillion as writer Rick Castle and Stana Katic as Detective Kate Beckett is airing the last three episodes of the season and recent reports have been speculating on what the episodes will focus on.

TVLine says that the last three episodes will focus on the mysterious disappearance of Castle. At one point during the season, Castle disappeared on his wedding day, leaving Beckett and the rest of characters wondering what happened or where he went. When he returned, even he himself could not remember what happened to him.

According to the report, Beckett will seek the help of a well-known and highly intelligent psychiatrist who will help Castle bring out his "repressed memories." It was also reported that Michael Dorn of "Star Trek" will be a guest star in finale episodes, who may likely play the role of the psychiatrist.

Another report in International Business Times mentions that Castle's memories may lead to "deadly consequences" and it is unknown how he and Beckett will deal with these.

Other characters who are set to make an appearance in the finale episodes are the fake Jenkins, played by Matt Lescher and Phillip Bartlett, who will be played by Mackenzie Astin.

Showrunner David Amann described to TV Guide the nature of the finale episodes. He said that "a cliffhanger was shaping up."

Aside from the season finale however, fans are also said to be anticipating a decision on the final fate of the show. Speculation is also rife about whether the series will be renewed for another season or if this will be the final season.

According to another report in International Business Times, actress Stana Katic was reported to have been sharing behind-the-scenes photos and thanking the staff and everyone involved in the series lately, leading some to think that this may in fact be the last season.

The report also mentions that lead actors Fillion and Katic do not have contracts yet. Katic in November 2014, had this to say about her character: "If the character is complete, if there is nowhere to go creatively, then I think it's better to stop when you're on top."
