'Castle' Season 7 News, Spoilers: Ryan-Centric Episode Finds NYPD Officer in an Assassination Plot

A perfect mix of suspense and humour makes the hit crime drama TV series "Castle" a huge delight for fans who have been following the show even on its seventh season. And this week's episode will offer more interesting twists and turns.

Titled "At Close Range," a synopsis posted on the Futon Critic indicates that working security for a high-profile politician could be a very dangerous gig.

NYPD Detective Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever) has been known in the show for doing various side jobs for his brother-in-law Frank's (David Conrad) private security company. The summary points out that his latest task is to ensure safety and protection of a certain congressman, Rep. Alex Lopez (reported to be played by "Desperate Housewives" actor Ricardo Chavira), while he attends a charity event.

TV Line dished out some casting information saying that Chavira's politician character is a "popular congressman whose life may be in danger."

Joining the guest star into this episode is "24" alum Reiko Aylesworth who will play as the congressman's "astute wife" named Mia.

Teasing further about the episode, executive producer David Amann informed the publication:

"He [Detective Ryan] gets involved in a situation where [he and Frank] are guarding somebody important and an incident occurs, and he is caught in the middle of it."

The full summary from TFC meanwhile reads:

Detective Kevin Ryan is on the security detail of a charismatic congressman attending a charity event when shots suddenly ring out. Driven to apprehend the killer, Ryan must revisit the events that led up to the shooting, with the help of Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic).

"Castle" Season 7 airs this Monday, March 23 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
