Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather News 2017: McGregor's UUFC Employers Are Biggest Obstacles in Super Fight, Says Mayweather

It won't be long before Floyd Mayweather comes back from retirement and recent reports suggest that when he returns, he's only interested in one fight. Mayweather wants to go up against none other than Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC) champion Conor McGregor.

Both fighters have taken jabs at each other in interviews and social media posts while pushing for their fight. Just recently, Mayweather teased McGregor when he said in an interview that while he makes his own decisions, the mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter always has to go to his employers for permission.

If the fight happens, it will pit the biggest boxer today against his counterpart in mixed martial arts. According to Mayweather, he wants to fight McGregor and it's about time they put pen to paper and make the fight happen.

"I'm here to say today, 2-24 on my birthday, they keep throwing the Conor McGregor name out there. Conor McGregor, like I said before, I'm here let's make it happen," said Mayweather in his interview with Showtime. "Let's make the fight happen. Let's give the fans what they want to see. There's only one fight out there that's important and that's Mayweather and Conor McGregor," he added.

While a Mayweather-McGregor fight sounds exciting, some doubt if the fight could ever happen, considering McGregor has zero boxing experience. In fact, in a separate interview with TMZ Sports, UFC president Dana White confirmed that they were "nowhere" when it comes to the bout coming together.

"I don't know where we're at, we're nowhere. We're nowhere with it. I expect Conor's next fight to be in the UFC, in mixed martial arts and the winner of Khabib vs Ferguson," he said.

Meanwhile, Mayweather said McGregor could fight him even if his prior boxing experience is virtually zero, saying that what's important is that McGregor is a tough fighter with the will to win. According to him, the only obstacle standing in the way of his proposed fight is McGregor's employers at the UFC.

There are rumors that negotiations between the two parties are ongoing but McGregor's camp has yet to confirm that.
