'Doctor Strange' news, cast, spoilers: A villain role being offered to Mads Mikkelsen

Mads Mikkelsen is definitely one of the best actors in television today. Although his "Hannibal" stint seems over for now — and many hope it will still be picked up by online streaming networks — it doesn't seem like Mikkelsen will be lacking in work anytime soon.

In the latest news released by Variety, the Hannibal actor is being courted by Marvel to play one of the villains in Marvel's "Doctor Strange." They stay that it's still too early in the talks that no offer has been made yet, but it is more likely coming soon. When things become official, he will be playing opposite "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch as the Doctor.

As for the villain he is playing, there are no details about it yet, as well. However, according to Screenrant, many hope that it would be Dormammu as Mikkelsen seems to be made for the part. Dormammu is a prominent villain in the story of Doctor Strange. He is presented to be one of the most powerful mystical entities in the Marvel Universe. He first appeared in 1964 and is referred to by the Doctor as one of his "most terrible foes." His power is to channel mystical energy that allows him to manipulate almost anything into what he wants, including teleportation, necromancy, and resizing.

It was also recently announced that Mikkelsen will also be part of Disney's "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." He already clarified that he won't be playing a villain in the film, while holding back more crucial details. The Danish actor has already showcased his talent as an effective villain, and though he may be able to do more, it only makes sense that he wouldn't want to get trapped in villain roles and would want to expand his character ranges.

For now, fans can only wait if he will definitely be a part of the movie Doctor Strange, which will hit theaters on Nov. 4, 2016.
