Emily Blunt on Motherhood: 'I Don't Live a Glamorous Life'

Actress Emily Blunt is married to actor John Krasinski and works among Hollywood's elite, but insists that she does not live a glamorous lifestyle. The new mom is happiest just being home with her husband and daughter, though right now she is busy promoting her latest film, "Edge of Tomorrow," with co-star Tom Cruise.

"I don't feel I lead a glamorous life," Blunt told Stella magazine. "Most of the people we're friends with are people you can just hang out with."

Those people just happen to be Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux, whom she and Krasinski went on vacation to Mexico with. However, the new mom insists that daughter Hazel helps keep her grounded and reminds her of what is truly important in life.

"You should have seen us this morning," Blunt added. "It was … well, not chaos, but like everyone else in the morning with a small baby. Then again, I do tend to sweep down the stairs in a ball-gown every night saying, 'Tell me I look beautiful.'"

Hazel was born in February, and Blunt spoke openly about the birth of her daughter.

"Everybody was asking, 'What's your birth plan?' and I was like, 'I don't really have one, to be honest.' The nurses were like, 'Thank God' – they're used to women who come in and say, 'I want this music playing when the baby comes out, I want this candle, these flowers…'"

"She is heaven," Blunt said of her new daughter. "My heart sort of explodes. I'm wondering what we were doing without her, actually. I can't really remember. John and I spend a lot of time going, 'Isn't she cute? Oh my God, look at her! She's so cute!' She just stares into your soul. Her eyes are denim blue. She looks like a combination of my mother and John's mother."

Acting took Blunt by surprise – it was something she never planned on doing. Now that she has done it, though, she is perfectly happy to remain in front of the camera rather than transition to behind-the-lens.

"Sometimes it hits me like a train," she said. "I think this job found me. I certainly wasn't on the prowl for it. Not to sound irreverent, because I take it so seriously and I love what I do – but it's never been anything to me. It's something I have a big love affair with but it doesn't consume me to the point where it's all I am."
