'Final Fantasy 15' DLC: Multiplayer Expansion Detailed Further, Customizable Characters and Story Tie-In Teased

Exact release date for 'Final Fantasy 15's' multiplayer DLC not known yet

"Final Fantasy 15" has deviated from the classic "Final Fantasy" model in so many ways, and it will only grow even more different in the months and years ahead as a multiplayer expansion pack is set to be released for it.

It may still be difficult for many long-time fans of the franchise to wrap their heads around what a multiplayer feature of this role-playing game could be like, but the good news for them is that developers have recently supplied some more details.

During a recent interview with Polygon, director Hajime Tabata took the time to fill fans in with regards to what they can expect from the game's multiplayer offering.

First off, Tabata noted that the focus will move away from Noctis and his friends once players try out the game's multiplayer component. Instead, gamers will soon be able to create characters of their own and use them in multiplayer mode.

Exactly how customizable these characters will be remains unknown at this point, though players would likely welcome the opportunity to create their own outlandish hairstyles that would seemingly be impossible to replicate in real life.

One more interesting tidbit that Tabata revealed about "Final Fantasy 15's" multiplayer component is that it will apparently be tied to the main narrative of the game in some way. Doing that should help make the multiplayer feature feel as though it actually belongs inside the game, as opposed to appearing like it was something that was just thrown in.

Now, whether this multiplayer addition will feature a narrative of its own that players can follow or if it will be more about giving players new ways to experience the game has not been specified just yet, so that's something for fans to watch out for.

It may also be a while before the multiplayer expansion pack is released for "Final Fantasy 15" as other story-based downloadable content packs may be made available first.
