'Justice League' Movie Rumor: Dan Amboyer Cast as Green Lantern?

With the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie hitting the theaters in a month's time from now, various speculations about the "Justice League Movie" have started surfacing as well. The latest in the rumor mill is that the "universe" has chosen actor Dan Amboyer to receive the power-yielding ring and suit up as Green Lantern.

While it's common knowledge that Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and Gal Gadot will reprise their roles on the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie for the "Justice League" movie, no confirmed news about the actor playing the role of Green Lantern has been made available.

However, an article in Pop Sugar seems to confirm that Amboyer will be breathing life to Green Lantern, after all. While it is true that he is part of the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie, he will play the role of Lieutenant Christie, a role described by IMDb as a drone pilot. This leaves the fans speculating that Amboyer is Green Lantern, although the superhero is known for his John Stewart and Hal Jordan alter-egos.

What made speculations even more intense in the belief that he is actually Green Lantern was Amboyer's reply when asked what his favorite color was:

"... Blue. Definitely blue, but I appreciate nature as well and everything green."

Amboyer insists on keeping mum about his role on the upcoming "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie as he was instructed by people behind it to keep the details about his role under wraps. This high level of secrecy about his role does not only excite the fans about what's in store for them but also bolsters the belief that Amboyer may be Green Lantern after all, and will continue donning the costume for the "Justice League" movie.

On the "Justice League" animated series that ran from 2001 to 2004 on the Cartoon Network, the league was composed of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, Martian Manhunter, The Flash, and Green Lantern. While Aquaman was not part of "the original seven," he shared his presence on the show's follow-up, "Justice League Unlimited."

Aquaman was one of the founding members of the Justice League in the comics version and on the "Superfriends" animated series in the '70s. Actor Jason Momoa will play the role in the upcoming "Justice League" movie incarnation. On the other hand, actors Victor Stone and Ezra Miller will also join Cavill, Affleck, and Gadot on the "Justice League Movie" as they have been chosen to play the roles of Cyborg and The Flash, respectively.

The last actor to play Green Lantern in a live-action feature was Ryan Reynolds in 2011 via the film of the same title. Reynolds eventually dropped the magical ring and donned the Deadpool costume for the "Deadpool" movie, which is currently on its way to breaking box-office records.

The "Green Lantern" standalone movie did not meet its box-office expectations and only delivered $219,851,172 as its worldwide gross.
