King Charles III will become the first monarch to pray aloud during the coronation ceremony.
The prayer will reflect the theme of loving service and is inspired by the biblical language of Galatians 5 and the hymn “I Vow to Thee, My Country,” according to The Church of England.

The prayer reads, “God of compassion and mercy whose Son was sent not to be served but to serve, give grace that I may find in thy service perfect freedom and in that freedom knowledge of thy truth. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”
