'Limitless' Season 2 News and Updates: Fans Still Hoping for Show Renewal; Possible Plot Revealed

The unfortunate cancellation of the science fiction comedy drama TV show "Limitless" brought its fans down far too many times already. However, new reports pop up sparingly to give the show's fans something to hold on to for the second season.

Show Cancellation

Showrunner Craig Sweeny has, on more than one occasion, officially confirmed that "Limitless" is indeed already cancelled. The executive producer has already taken the news on official news outlets and on social media. However, supporters of "Limitless" still believe that the story still has something to offer, so reinstating the show for a second season should still happen.

This growing support rose after Sweeny divulged that even before "Limitless" got axed by CBS, he already had a plot to go on in Season 2. After being cancelled by its mother network, Sweeny took the show to other networks in the hopes of them picking up the Season 2 of "Limitless."

Season 2 Plot

One of the reports have claimed that Craig Sweeny had revealed his plans for "Limitless" Season 2. If this is true, then the fans could actually get a glimpse of what the plot would have been if the show is picked up for a second season. Sweeny revealed that there certainly would be changes in the show. However, "Limitless" would still not lose its important storyline.

Sweeny then added that the production team has found a way for Brian (Jake McDorman) to take the NZT work with Rebecca (Jennifer Carpenter) and Boyle (Hill Harper), along with a few brand new members on their team. He then added that despite all the events that occurred in the finale of "Limitless" Season 1, the characters are now in a different place. Sweeney had reportedly talked about this Season 2 plot even before the show got cancelled.

No More Hope?

Hopes were up for the fans when Netflix started carrying "Limitless" Season 1 to their streaming service. When the news broke out that Sweeny and Bradley Cooper were in talks with the streaming service provider, the show's fans were very much delighted.

However, the negotiations fell through and plans for "Limitless" Season 2 ended up being down the drain. Sweeny previously revealed that the reason behind the decision of Netflix to drop the show was that the storyline of "Limitless" was way too complex to gamble for a second season.

With all options seemingly exhausted by the showrunner, hopes for a "Limitless" Season 2 renewal is close to null. It may one day have a comeback or eventually find a new network to call home, but for now, the show will have to sit it out and fans need to wrap their minds around that.
