United only just scrapped past a mediocre Galatasaray team in their opening Champions League match, and that will have sent warning signs to Old Trafford following their shock group stage elimination last year in this competition.

However, the United side did manage to get the three points two weeks ago against their Turkish opponents, and they will not look to build from there with another three points today.

The Reds have not enjoyed the perfect preparations to tonight's game, losing against Tottenham Hotspur at Hold Trafford at the weekend. That was the first time Spurs have beaten United at Old Trafford for years, and has emphasized the Manchester side's lackluster start to the new season.

Sir Alex Ferguson will be looking for a strong response from him team tonight that may kick start their season.

However, the Romanian champions will be looking to stifle United and ensure they are not given freedom to run all over them. CFR Cluj have already laid down their own claim to be taken seriously in the competition by winning their opening game against Braga 2-0 away from home. Rafael Bastos scored both goals against his former club in that match, and he will again be looked to for inspiration tonight.

United are undoubtedly a much harder prospect than Braga and CFR Cluj will be celebrating even if they can claim a draw tonight.

Meanwhile, Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick and Ryan Giggs have all not made the journey to Romania, and Antonio Valencia remains out with an ankle injury.
