'Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite' News: Game Will Feature Its Own Story, Will Not Be Linked to Movies

New, main villain expected to be at the heart of 'Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite's' story

"Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will attempt to win fans over by giving them opportunities to use iconic characters in battles that may not exist otherwise if it were not for this franchise. Apart from that, the upcoming game is also expected to feature some other original elements.

Among those original elements fans can look forward to learning more about is the new storyline that will be included in this game.

Developers have previously talked about what this new storyline will be like, sharing in an earlier post on Capcom Unity that it "answers the questions regarding the new clash and lets players step into the shoes of classic characters from both sides as they wage war against powerful forces in an attempt to defeat a new villain."

More clues regarding who this new villain is have not been revealed just yet, though this character is expected to play a key role in "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite."

Beyond that, fans can also expect that this new fighting game will feature a storyline that developers have created themselves.

Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann recently told IGN that the developers have been given the freedom to tell their own story. He added that they have been provided with the opportunity to take a closer look at the history of Marvel and choose which elements featured in it are ones they want to use for the game.

Additionally, the storyline that is created for the game is not one that is expected to be tied directly to the many Marvel films out there, so developers appear to be getting something very close to a blank slate when it comes to making this title.

Specific details about "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite's" main storyline are not available just yet, but those should come out soon, especially with the new fighting game already set to be released sometime later this year.
