Nokia Lumia 1520 Release Date Set for Nov. 15, Price Announced

The Nokia Lumia 1520 release date will be on Nov. 15 for AT&T customers.

The carrier will offer the device on-contract for $199.

The Lumia 1520 is the first 6-Inch Windows Phone tablet and will be a direct competitor for the Galaxy Note 3 and HTC One Max. Off-contract prices can be found in the online Microsoft Store.

Specs for this new Lumia include a 6-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC, 2GB of RAM, 32GB build-in memory, and a microSD card slot. It also features a 20-megapixel camera that is said to have the ability to shoot photos at 5-megapixel and 16-megapixel resolution simultaneously.

The Lumia 1520 will boot Windows Phone 8 with the new GDR3 update. This update includes a Driving Mode feature designed to mute calls and texts automatically when paired by Bluetooth to a car. The software will also come with Rotation lock and improved multitasking changes along with support for custom sounds on text, voice mail, email, and reminders, according to report from The Verge. It will also allow Windows Phone 8 users to restore from backup using Wi-Fi during the initial setup.

Nokia introduced its first official Windows-powered tablet the Lumia 2520 last month.

Specifications on the Lumia 2520 include a 10.1-inch full-HD IPS LCD display with enhanced outdoor readability, a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB inbuilt storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD card, a 6.7-megapixel rear camera with ZEISS optics, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 8000mAh battery.

The device will launch in both Red and White with a glossy finish as well as in Black and Cyan with a matte finish. It runs Windows RT 8.1 which is the latest build of the software and corrects many of the problems users found in Windows 8.
