'Pokken Tournament:' Four New Characters Expand Roster

"Pokken Tournament's" roster of fighting Pokemons has been expanded yet again recently. This time, four brand-new characters are joining in the Poke-matches.

Chandelure

As promised, Bandai Namco has revealed on Jan. 15 the character that was teased last week. The new "Pokken Tournament" addition is a Ghost and Fire-type Pokemon named Chandelure.

Chandelure's Japanese name contains the character "ラ" ("ra" or "la") as hinted previously. Gematsu also reports that the new Pokemon will appear in a trailer that will be shown at Tokaigi 2016, a special fighting competition, on Jan. 31.

Chadelure joins 12 other previously announced Pokemons: Sceptile, Lucario, Pikachu, Pikachu Libre, Shadow Mewtwo, Machamp, Gengar, Suicune, Charizard, Gardevoir, Blaziken, and Weavile.

Braixen, Mewtwo, and Garchomp

Three new playable Pokemons were also leaked in the latest issue of CoroCoro Comic, a Japanese monthly manga magazine. The leaked Pokemon were identified to be Braixen, Mewtwo, and Garchomp.

Garchomp is a Power category Pokemon, according to Serebii, and the leaked image shows it Mega Evolving into Mega Garchomp. Garchomp's signature moves include Sand Tomb and Dragon Rush.

Braixen, on the other hand, specializes in long range attacks with moves such as Fire Blast.

Meanwhile, the Mewtwo referred to here is the standard Mewtwo. In other words, the Pokemon has two playable versions so players will be able to choose between two variants of the same Pokemon in the same way as Pikachu and the masked Pikachu Libre.

Chandelure, Braixen, Mewtwo, and Garchomp bring "Pokken Tournament's" current lineup to 16 confirmed fighters.

"Pokken Tournament" is scheduled to release on the Nintendo Wii U on March 18 in Japan. Meanwhile, the game is set to launch this spring for North America and Europe.

"Pokken Tournament" is part of The Pokemon Company's big celebration to mark the franchise's 20th anniversary. Pokemon will even appear in a Super Bowl commercial.
