Rob Lowe Rescued From Flooding in France With Wife and Son

Rob Lowe came under real-life danger while on vacation with his family in France when heavy rains and severe flooding threatened their lives this week.

The actor is accustomed to portraying characters who are in dangerous situations on the big screen, but on Wednesday, June 25, Lowe and his family had to be rescued from their house in Grasse, France. Water levels quickly rose and threatened to sweep away the house when emergency rescue personal rescued Lowe as well as his wife and son.

Following the terrifying ordeal, both Lowe and his son John shared photos of the rising waters.

"This is right outside the house," Lowe wrote in one post to Twitter with a photo of broken branches and deep, fast-moving water. "Was twice as high at the worst, just before sunrise."

Lowe also shared a photo of his wife being rescued while thanking the rescue team, but the photo has since been deleted.

"My wife being rescued this am in the horrific flooding in Grasse France," he wrote, according to Yahoo News. "Glad we are safe. Grateful to first responders."

John Lowe also shared a frightening video of the severe flooding, writing: "That's the first floor of our house submerged. Scariest hour or so of my life, also sorry for the explicit language. #theboysssurvivedaflood."

The 19-year-old later added a message to the rescue team who saved his family from danger.

"Thank you to the fireman that saved us from this nightmare," John posted to Twitter. "Happy for us all to be safe, thoughts to others."

Rob Lowe is not the first actor to survive a natural disaster while on vacation. In 2011, Kate Winslet was vacationing at Richard Branson's private island residence in the British Virgin Islands with 20 others when a fire broke out. While the house fire ravaged the home, Winslet was able to escape, and even saved Branson's 90-year-old mother, Eve, according to ABC News.
