Samsung Galaxy Nexus Prime Release Date: New Device and Ice Cream Sandwich Launched

The “Ice Cream Sandwich” was debuted on Wednesday in Hong Kong with the introduction of the flagship Ice Cream Sandwich phone, the Galaxy Nexus.

The Korean company launched the new Nexus Prime device upping the stakes in the smartphone wars. According to Tim Conneally of BetaNews.com, the new Galaxy Nexus offers “impressive hardware to back up the impressive Android software update.”

On Tuesdays presentation of the new operating system and phone, Google’s Matias Duarte said, “People like Android, they need Android…but they didn’t love Android.”

However, Andy Rubin of Google added that the new device and the ecosystem can “do things you never thought of before,” suggesting that people may in fact fall in love with Android.

The company went above and beyond to offer new and functions and features for the Android and essentially the new Galaxy Nexus offers everything that was predicted prior to its launch by technology experts and smart phone gurus in speculative blogs.

The newest version of the Android also unifies tablets and smartphones under a single OS for the first time.

Some of the new features offered by Android 4.0 include a distinct font known as “Roboto,” Wi-Fi Direct support, a new camera, photo editing tools, an improved notification bar with customizable notification options, in-line spell check and suggestion mode, and an update of all Google apps including YouTube, Maps, Google+, and Google Music.

The new device does not as yet have a precise launch date and the listing price has yet to come out, but Google and Samsung have said that the new phone would be available in the U.S., Europe, and Asia beginning in November.

For those not in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, consumers hoping to get their hands on the new phone need not fret, as it will be launched worldwide later.
