Samsung Galaxy Nexus Release Date: One Feature Makes the Smartphone an 'iPhone Killer'

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus and its operating system, Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich have received countless positive reviews prior to their release, however the smartphone has not been recognized as an "iPhone Killer."

Industry experts propose that they have now discovered the one feature on the Galaxy Nexus that may make it an "iPhone Killer," its updated hardware accelerator that now makes the Android phone run as smoothly as an iPhone.

While many Android phones have a number of features that rival those of the iPhone, experts note that they have consistently had a less efficient battery life than the iPhone, and do not run as "smoothly."

However, the updated hardware accelerator offered with Android 4.0 allows the Galaxy Nexus to run as smoothly as an iPhone, tech website, GizmoCrunch suggests.

In conjunction with its other notable specs such as its Face Unlock lockscreen and the phone-to-phone sharing mechanism, Android Beam, the smartphone may receive the "iPhone Killer" title upon its release, the website added.

The Galaxy Nexus is expected to release sometime in November. While no official release date has been announced for the U.S., its currently exclusive carrier, Verizon Wireless, announced in a statement that the smartphone would be released "later this year.”

Industry experts expect the Galaxy Nexus to eventually be introduced to the Sprint network.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 was the first Android smartphone to hold the nickname "iPhone Killer," due to its many notable specs as well as its record-breaking retail success, internationally and in the U.S.

The Galaxy S2 is second most recent predecessor to the Galaxy Nexus.
