Samsung Galaxy S8 Rumors: Leak Shows On-Screen Keys to Replace Physical Home Button

Recently, new photos supposedly from Chinese manufacturers have surfaced and they suggest that the physical home button will be replaced with on-screen keys.

Leaks about the Samsung Galaxy S8's specifications and design are continuously getting out. And it has been speculated, for quite some time now, that Samsung is aiming to release the Galaxy S8 with a much bigger screen through slimming down its bezels and bidding farewell to the brand's signature physical home button.

However, latest leaks provide new information that Samsung will replace the home button with on-screen keys, possibly similar to the ones found on other smartphone brands such as Huawei.

Earlier this week, another batch of leaked Galaxy S8 photos were shared by Twitter user @UniverseIce. According to the social media post, the images came from film manufacturers in China.

While the larger curved edge display and slimmer bezels are not a new view, the image lets mobile enthusiasts take a peek on the discreetly exposed on-screen "back" button at the lower right part of the display in one of the images.

However, SamMobile notes that people cannot be certain yet if the leaked images represent the final product of the Galaxy S8. The report advises people to view it with a grain of salt since there is no assurance if these designs will be present until the official launch.

Another major design change that will probably be seen in the Galaxy S8 is the new location of the fingerprint scanner right beside the rear camera.

Meanwhile, following the debacle with the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung deemed it best to take extra precautionary measures to make sure their upcoming flagship is a hundred percent safe to use. In effect, the announcement of Galaxy S8 will be a little bit delayed.

Following the anticipated delay, the Galaxy S8 might not be present at the Mobile World Congress event next week. However, earlier this month, The Korea Herald spilled the beans that Samsung is preparing a minute-long video teaser dedicated for the Galaxy S8 to showcase some of its features.

While the Galaxy S8 will not be physically present at MWC 2017, the company's next flagship tablet, the Galaxy Tab S3, is expected to take center stage next week.

Meanwhile, the reported leaks above are expected to be confirmed later next month, as reports have it, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S8 on March 29.
