'The Jungle Book,' 'Alice Through the Looking Glass,' 'Beauty & The Beast,' and 'Pirates 5' - Disney reveals upcoming Live Action films during D23 Expo

Disney revealed its newest Live Action projects during its panel titled "Worlds, Galaxies, and Universes: Live Action at the Walt Disney Studios" at the annual Disney D23 Expo.

It was reported that Disney has plans for Live Action movie adaptations of the classic stories "The Jungle Book," "Alice Through the Looking Glass," and "Beauty & the Beast." There will also be another installment of the "Pirates and the Caribeean" franchise.

Jon Favreau presented the information for Disney's The Jungle Book, which he will lead and direct. The cast of the film includes Ben Kingsley, Lupita Nyong'o, and Neel Sethi, who will plat Mowgli. The Jungle Book is expected to hit theaters by Apr. 15, 2016. The poster for the upcoming film was also released during the Expo.

There will also be the sequel to Tim Burton's film "Alice in Wonderland," titled Alice Through the Looking Glass. It was confirmed that Mia Wasikowska will reprise her role as Alice. In additiom, the film will also see the return of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonhan Carter as the Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen. An announcement also revealed that Sacha Baron Cohen will be portraying a new character named Time. The character will let Alice explore the past lives of many Wonderland creatures. The film directed by James Bobbin will be playing in theaters in May 27, 2016.

Disney also stated that its Live Action take on Beauty & The Beast is currently in production. The cast consisting of Emma Watson as Belle, Luke Evas as Gaston, and Josh Had as LeFou are filming in London at the moment. Beauty & The Beast will premiere on Mar. 17, 2017.

Finally, the panel gave information on the fifth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise titled "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales." It will be directed by Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning. Johnny Depp will reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, while Geoffrey Rush will portray Captain Barbosa once again. Javier Bardem will play Captain Salazar. A new character named Carina Smyth will be played by Kaya Scodelario. Fans will be happy to know that Orlando Bloom will return to the franchise with his role as Will Turner.
