Sony Xperia C5 Ultra Specs, Release Date: Android Midranger Priced in Hong Kong Market

Making headlines earlier this week, the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra is another attempt from Sony to offer a variety of smartphones to its consumers. The device's specs are in the midrange category, but knowing that it comes from the Japanese manufacturer gives the impression that it will get the same build quality of its higher-tier offerings.

Several days after its launch together with the Sony Xperia M5, the C5 Ultra has already been priced in an Asian country.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Android-powered smartphone appeared on Sony's Hong Kong website, and lists the device's pricing. In the report, the handset will cost HK$3,298, which is about $425. The report mentioned that the device will be unlocked and will support dual-SIM compatibility.

This price tag is not competitive in a market such as Hong Kong, especially when more Chinese brands are penetrating the Asian market. So what does the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra have to offer?

Based on the listed specs of the device, the Sony midranger packs a massive 6-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in memory, and a microSD card slot that reportedly can support up to 200GB of storage.

In addition, the device will also feature Sony's famous 13MP primary camera with an LED flash, though Sony was generous enough to include the same sensor in front. That means, the Xperia C5 Ultra also packs a 13MP selfie shooter.

On the chipset side, the Sony device runs on Mediatek MT6752 with an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU running at 1.7 GHz. There is also a Mali-T760MP2 GPU to handle graphics processing.

In the report, the device will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, and is powered by a 2,930mAh battery.

The device is reported to make its debut in Hong Kong on Aug. 14.
