'The Black Lightning' TV Series Air Date, Spoilers and Updates: Fox Network Commits to Show's Pilot Production

A New Superhero Series Produced by Greg Berlanti called "Black Lightning" is reported to be released by Fox Network Soon

DC Comics fans, heads up! Another superhero series is about to dominate TV screens soon.

Fox's "Gotham" Producer Greg Berlanti is reported to be collaborating with "Being Mary Jane" and "The Game" creators (and couple) Salim and Mara Brock Akil for the making of "The Black Lightning".

The first black superhero to land on web streaming is Marvel's Luke Cage. Meanwhile, on CW Seed App is DC Comics' Vixen. If "The Black Lightning" gets released, it will be the first time for people to witness the first black superhero in action on conventional TV viewing.

The Makers

The Akils are reported to be in charge of the screenwriting. The storyline will first focus on the character of Jefferson Pierce who decided to retire from his superhero stint until he had to reclaim it for his daughter. With a huge number of people to deal with, Pierce is forced to make a comeback as The Black Lightning.

The Black Lightning and His Superpowers

As the superhero's name suggests, Black Lightning is a metahuman who has the power to control electro-magnetic fields. He can use this to launch projectiles, kill his enemies and fly when it's necessary.

Fans will also witness the involvement of Superman and Batman in the formation of The Black Lightning's existence. On the premiere episodes, viewers may expect the appearance of Superman as The Black Lightning revived his heart. Aside from that, The Black Lightning has gained his combat skills from Batman. These parts right here may have some twists and turns as these are taken from the comics.

Anticipating DC fans expect to see the appearance of Pierce's daughters, Anissa (Thunder) and Jennifer (Lightning). The two have separate allegiance. Anissa is connected with the Outsiders while Jennifer is linked with the Justice Society of America. By the looks of it, the diversity of daughters' activities may be the center of the series' plot.

More and more networks are inclined of investing in superhero stories. For Black Lightning's family man nature and for his linkage with two of the best DC superheroes, it will not be impossible that the series can progress from just a single season.

Earlier news say that "The Black Lightning" is about to enter the CW network.

However, recent reports say that The Fox Network has already given their commitment for the pilot production.

As of today, the network has not revealed any dates nor production schedules for the series yet.
