Actress Bryce Dallas Howard and husband Seth Gabel has welcomed a baby girl on Jan. 19. Her father Ron Howard, a filmmaker and former child actor who starred in the sitcom The Andy Griffith Show, tweeted his joy of the birth of his granddaughter.

"Beatrice Jean Howard-Gabel Born Jan 19 2012 8lbs 6oz Bryce & Baby B are spectacular,” he tweeted. "Daddy Seth & brother Theo are beaming ear to ear : -)

"Beatrice's arrival is hugely exciting for our family. Thanks for all the kind tweets folks."

Howard and Gabel married in 2006. They also have a four-year old son, Theodore Norman Howard-Gabel. The star suffered from post-natal depression after Theo’s birth in 2007. She wrote an essay for Gwyneth Paltrow’s online newsletter GOOP in 2010, on which she said she suffered “emotional amnesia.”

"I couldn't genuinely cry, or laugh, or be moved by anything," she said. "For the sake of those around me, including my son, I pretended, but when I began showering again in the second week, I let loose in the privacy of the bathroom, water flowing over me as I heaved uncontrollable sobs."

"Then one day, I was sitting in my home with my best friend and my sister, and out of nowhere, I got this sudden feeling of summer. When I told them, they looked at me curiously and chuckled a little. I searched for a better way to describe my feelings, 'I dunno, I just got this feeling ... like everything is going to be okay.'"

Howard starred in the movie The Help, Spiderman 3 and in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Gabel appeared in “Fringe” and “United States of Tara.”
