'Fear the Walking Dead' Plot Spoilers, News: Spinoff Inspired by Real Life Outbreaks?

AMC's highly anticipated spinoff show for its hit post-apocalyptic TV series "The Walking Dead" is said to take the story in Los Angeles where the initial "zombie" outbreak supposed to happen.

Aptly called "Fear the Walking Dead," the show is slated to feature the actors Cliff Curtis as Sean Cabrera, a father and a teacher, and Kim Dickens as Nancy Tomkins, Sean's colleague and lover.

Recent casting addition includes Frank Dillane of the "Harry Potter" film series, Alycia Debnam Carey from "Into the Storm" and Elizabeth Rodriguez who appeared as Aleida Diaz on the hit Netflix jail bird drama, "Orange is the New Black."

Executive producer Greg Nicotero revealed some meaty details about what really is the premise of the offshoot show.

Viewers won't get any backstory of the parent series in the upcoming show saying, "it's not necessarily important."

What's essential, according to him, is to give the fans the feeling that they often invoke when they hear those horrid, real life events.

"What's important in the spin-off is how people react to it. It really is a fascinating statement on current society, because we get most of our information from our iPads and our phones. There have been things that have been happening in recent years … When you hear stories like that, about a guy who attacked someone and bit their face off, imagine how we reacted to that news story at the time," he told Melty.

The show is also set to explore those situations wherein one person's mistake could often lead to global-scale consequences.

"Even in the U.S., there was a nurse who was working in Africa and who came back to the United States and refused to go into quarantine for Ebola. So I think about stories like that and I go: 'Wow, maybe that could have been the beginning, or maybe this could have been the beginning.' In a TV show like 'Fear The Walking Dead,' you get to ask those same questions," Nicotero added.

As of today, there's no official release date confirmed for the show. Melty's report meanwhile indicated that the upcoming AMC series could debut on the network "later this summer."
