'Frozen 2' Rumors: Olaf Gets A Girlfriend, Sequel To Have Better Art, Release Date Definitely Not Until 2018

To say that the sequel to the 2013 mega-hit "Frozen" is "hotly anticipated" seems to be an understatement. The movie may be a long way off in the distant future, but this hasn't stopped avid movie watchers, film critics, and the millions of "Frozen" fans of every age from spawning dozens of theories about what "Frozen 2" will be about, which characters will be in it, who will turn evil, who will sing the theme song, and more.

Some of the most plausible out of the wealth of "Frozen 2" rumors are the following:

Olaf gets a girlfriend.

It's meant to be. As The Telegraph points out, casting Olaf in his own major love story isn't just good for the movie's plot, it's also a good business move. Olaf is one of the popular Disney characters right now and giving him an equally adorable partner only means double the Olaf merchandise sold. And now that Anna is happily with Kristoff and Elsa is happily ruling Arendelle, it makes sense for Olaf to be happily ensconced in his own romance.

"Frozen 2" will have a different look.

Because new animation technology is constantly being developed, the sequel to "Frozen" will likely have significant improvements to its art and animation. The film may spend two to three more years in development, which is ample time for animators to give "Frozen 2" greater visual fidelity and to bring the characters to life with better visual effects. Some fans are concerned that better technology will give the sequel a look that is too different from that of its predecessor. Though this concern seems unfounded, only time will tell if Disney stays faithful to the look of "Frozen" or goes for an entirely new style.

The movie won't hit theaters until 2018.

Moana, the newest Disney princess, will make her debut sometime in 2016, which means that "Frozen 2" won't be released in the same year. Or even the next, because Disney won't want to release two Disney princess movies too close together. According to Movie Pilot, there are also a bunch of other Disney movies expected to be released around the same time as Moana. This can only mean that "Frozen 2" won't be here until 2018 - or even later.
