'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Cast Rumors: George RR Martin Blasts Movie Rumors

All hopes are thwarted when George RR Martin, the author of the popular-selling fantasy novel series, "A Song of Ice And Fire" which the HBO TV series "Game of Thrones" is heavily based from, slammed the rumors that the show will have a full-length feature film.

News about this supposed big screen project is said to have sprouted from the author's own statement when he was last seen at the Emmy after-party event. He was quoted as saying that there "will be a movie" and that it is "something that HBO and DB [Weiss] and David [Benioff] are dealing with" as of the moment.

Now Martin has clarified (via BBC.com) the issue through his own blog site, Livejournal, to say that this is not entirely the case at all.

He explained that although there was "great enthusiasm for the notion" of making a film adaptation of the show, fans should be wary of what they read, especially those coming from the Internet.

"I don't know where this latest round of 'there's going to be a GAME OF THRONES movie' nonsense is coming from, but suddenly it is everywhere, and all of us connected with the show and HBO are being bombarded. But nothing has changed," his statement reads (via Gamespot.com).

However, he admits that the idea of having a "Game of Thrones" the movie, is still "powerfully attractive" not just for him but for the people connected with the series.

"Actors, directors, producers, writers. How not? It would be a great way to end," the 67-year-old novelist added.

Once again, he reiterated that despite the hype, it is not likely to happen especially on the side of HBO since the cabler is solely into the TV business and "not the feature film business."

The company's president, Michael Lombardo, seemed to have welcomed the idea when he spoke to Entertainment Weekly (via BBC). He revealed that he too, have heard of the rumblings but he specifies that making a "movie would be changing the rules" that the network have long stood for.

"Game of Thrones" Season 6 returns to the small screen in 2016.
