LG and Google teamed up last year to create a smartphone that has been relatively scarce since its initial release in November. The handset, known as the Nexus 4, launched alongside the Samsung Nexus 10 tablet, which was touted by some to have the potential to be an iPad killer.

The smartphone also seems to be in that same league in terms of specifications and overall performance, and snuck up at the end of 2012 to become one of the most in demand handsets - constantly selling out of stock in the Google Play Store.

The Christian Post had the opportunity to test out the smartphone and here's an official review.

Display

The LG Nexus 4 features a 4.7-inch True HD IPS Plus display that has a 768x1280 pixel resolution with a 318 ppi pixel density overall. This screen does not disappoint; it is one of the sharpest and most detailed on the market. LG's Nitro HD device had one of the best looking displays at the end of 2011 and this handset basically carries on the tradition. For devices released in the U.S., it could arguably have the best display, as it seems even clearer and sharper than the much-heralded display on the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Speed

The 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor paired with 2GB RAM makes for a smartphone that runs faster and smoother than any other Android device on the market. It implements Android 4.2, JellyBean in a simple manner and allows it to run as smoothly as iOS would on an iPhone. Its speed literally drives it ahead of the pack.

Software

With Android 4.2, JellyBean +, this high-end Nexus smartphone is the best representation of an Android-powered handset currently on the market. Other Android smartphones such as the Galaxy S3 and HTC One X just don't run Android as smoothly as this Nexus branded device. Put simply, again, the Android platform runs as smoothly on this device as the iOS does on the iPhone. If you're looking for the best Android experience on a handset, than the LG Nexus is the device for you.

Design

This seems to be the area where most Android devices suffer. The Nexus 4 features a metal frame which makes the handset a bit heavy. However, what it gives up in the weight category, it makes up for in its sharp appearance; and with its glittery backing it will make your smartphone sparkle to people watching you text or play a game. However, that said this sparkle feature may not be to everyone's liking, particularly for those who prefer the plain more-simplistic look. It also closely resembles the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which isn't necessarily a bad thing for fans of the older device. And although the handset's look is not anything groundbreaking, it does not hurt the device either.

Conclusion

The LG Nexus is arguably the finest Android smartphone on the market. The only negative thing to say about it is that it doesn't feature LTE connectivity. That seriously hurts the appeal of the smartphone. However, despite its lack of LTE, it still comes automatically unlocked for a very good price. If you love Android, and want it to run smooth on a smartphone, then the Nexus 4 is probably your best choice.
