In the 3-1 win for the Lightning, the match was expected to be a fast-paced game but turned out to be a physical encounter.

Pittsburgh players Krist Letang and Brian Dumoulin needed to be attended to after hitting their heads on the boards.

Tampa Bay's Tyler Johnson was not spared, ended up hobbling after banging knees with Chris Kunits.

Lightning's goalie Ben Bishop also had anxious moments after suffering a bad fall in Game 1 as we was trying to get back in position. It was feared that Bishop may have suffered a broken leg by test results came back negative. He remains questionable for Game 2.

Despite all these, the Lightning still need to build on their victory as they now hold the home advantage.

Alex Killorn started the scoring late in the first period before the Lightning made it 3-0 courtesy of Ondrej Palat and Jonathan Drouin.

Patrick Hornqvist was able to score and make it 3-1 in the second period, but the Penguins were unable to gain momentum from there on.

Tampa Bay will rely on back-up goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevskly. Vasilevskly did a good job saving 25 goals after coming in for Bishop.
