Wisconsin Gears Up for State's Largest Music Festival

November 8, 2007|8:35 am

Over 3,000 teenagers, parents, and youth leaders are expected to gather this Saturday in Green Bay, Wis., for the 17th annual “Power of One” Christian music festival.

Dubbed the state’s largest one-day event of its kind by organizers, the “Power of One: The Big Deal” festival will take place at the Brown County Resch Center and feature twelve hours of music, seminars, food and fun – all purposed to revitalize youth in the region with stronger faith and a sense of purpose, according to a statement released by Life Promotions.

"I think teenagers constantly make something a big deal in their lives — whether it's relationships, looking hot on the hotness scale so they can measure up, sports and grades — and there's a lot of stuff vying for their attention," Blaine Howard, director of festivals at Life Promotions told the local Appleton Post-Crescent newspaper. "We want kids to know at Power of One this year that God has said that they are the big deal.”

Artists slated to perform include Christian rock bands Hawk Nelson, Tree63, Jonah 33 and HappyFunTime. Michigan-based group Cycledown will perform at the event’s all-you-can-eat Pizza Bash, which will be held in the adjacent Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena, and gold-selling group Flyleaf are the events’ headliners.

Speakers at the event include Kent Hulbert, Wisconsin Youth Alive director; Josh Finklea, executive pastor at Crossing church in Quincy, Ill.; Vince Lichlyter, leader singer for Jonah33; and Tammy Borden, musician and media coordinator for Life Promotions.
