Asus ZenFone 2 Release Date, Specs News: 2 New Versions Rumored, Pre-Orders Now Available
More than a month after the Asus Zenfone 2 was announced, there are finally new updates about its release date and availability.
According to a new report by GSM Arena, the device has just hit pre-order status in a retailer website which should be exciting for fans.
Unfortunately, the report focused on the detail that the website listed the Zenfone 2 priced at $300, and not $200 as was previously announced.
However, a close look at the phone's specs reveals that the device in question is the 64GB version of the Asus smartphone. A previous report from the same tech website also mentioned that the Zenfone 2 is not just a single device, but several handsets.
In the report, Asus is allegedly preparing two other devices that will bear the Zenfone 2 branding. The first one is rumored to get a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset instead of the Intel Atom SoC.
The version is rumored to be on the affordable side of the spectrum as well, and it should be released by Q2 this year.
Meanwhile, another Zenfone 2 version is rumored to make its debut in the Indian market. The Android-powered handset reportedly runs on a MediaTek chipset that cannot support LTE networks.
As for the two early models that were announced at the Consumer Electronics Show, they both pack an Intel Atom chipset, but with different innards.
The lower-end model "only" runs on a 2GB RAM and 1.8GHz chipset, while the faster version boasts a 4GB RAM and 2.4GHz SoC.
