'Divergent: Allegiant' Movie Release Date, Plot Spoilers: Roth Sticks to Original Ending, More Mature Tone for Finale to Series

The premiere of "Divergent: Allegiant — Part One" is still far from release but fans of the science fiction action film are now all aware how the series will end up. Even though the book has already revealed its ending, fans have been hoping that the movie version will change the tragic fate of Beatrice "Tris" Prior, who is played by Shailene Woodley. Spoilers will follow.

Tris ended up dead in the book series, which caused several fans to start a petition on Change.org to offer an alternative ending in the movie, according to Movie News Guide. However, the petition still did not push author Veronica Roth to come up with a different ending. Roth has already previously addressed these ongoing petitions but she's firm with her decision and said in a report that she wrote "Allegiant" that way because she thought that was the way it needed to be told.

While several fans still can't accept the fact that Woodley's character will die in the upcoming part two of the movie, "The Fault in our Stars" main actress shared her thoughts on the final conclusion of "Divergent: Allegiant."

"I think that it's a beautiful decision that Veronica made. I mean, how often is it that somebody you really admire and who does take selfless risks everyday ends up living," Woodley told Digital Spy.

Theo James, who is playing the role of Tobias "Four" Eaton, also finds the ending of the movie just right and even admitted that Tris' death seemed "totally natural."

"Tris' character is, it's all about self-sacrifice … It would be strange if you just saw Four and her in the end like smoking cigars and hanging out with their kids and their dog," the 30-year-old actor said.

Aside from the controversial series ending, it caused a stir when James revealed that the movie will take on a more mature tone for sophisticated audiences, according to Venture Capital Post. It has been reported that James and Woodley will engage in more intimate scenes on-screen, which is something that fans will have to watch out for as the lead characters will heat things up in the upcoming film. The first part of the movie will be released on March 18, 2016 and the second on March 24, 2017.
