'Awake, my Heart, with Gladness'

The hymn “Awake, my Heart, with Gladness” was written by Paul Gerhardt, a 17th century German Lutheran pastor and influential hymnist.

It was later translated into English, along with other songs by Gerhardt, by British Pastor John Kelly for “Hymns of the Present Century from the German,” which was released by the Religious Tract Society in 1886.
